François Martin is called the Father of Puducherry. In 1674 he took a granted site and made it a port, then a town. He was the first Governor-General. The street that bears his name still runs through the quarter.

This is a colonial suite: a King bed, a two-seater sofa and a single seat, a study-cum-dining table, pantry, wardrobe, a traditional fountain, a private Jacuzzi, and a street-facing balcony. The shower is attached. A room made for lingering — to sit, to eat, to bathe, and to look out on the street.
